AMERICAN RED CROSS HONORS MILITARY SERVICE MEMBERS, VETERANS AND THEIR FAMILIES

KOKA BOOTH AMPHITHEATRE - BILLY RAY CYRUS, 11/8/08

Thursday Oct 30, 2008
American Red Cross Honors Military Service Members, Veterans and their Families
Buy One, Get One Free Tickets and $10,000 Cash Prizes Offered

RALEIGH, NC, October 27, 2008--The American Red Cross is asking you to help honor our Military Service Members, Veterans and their families on Saturday, November 8, 2008 at a Concert Celebration featuring Josh Gracin, Bo Bice, Rocky Lynne and headliner Billy Ray Cyrus. “Our generous sponsors have made it possible for us to offer buy one, get one free tickets so people can bring a military service member or veteran to the concert celebration for free,” said Barry Porter, Regional Director for the American Red Cross. The concert is being held at Koka Booth Amphitheatre and the 82nd Airborne All American Chorus will kick off the performance at 5:00pm.”

“We all know that our past and present military members and their families have made great sacrifices and we want to let them know that we are eternally grateful for their services,” said Bill Hamlin, Red Cross Board Chair. “To encourage everyone to bring military members, veterans and their families, an anonymous sponsor has donated $10,000 for a prize drawing that each paid ticket holder is eligible to win.” Tickets are on sale through TicketMaster at www.ticketmaster.com.

November 8th was chosen for honoring our military members and veterans inspired by the song “8th of November” by country music group Big & Rich. Niles Harris, a Vietnam War Veteran, was the inspiration for the song. Harris fought in the 173rd Airborne Brigade during Operation Hump on November 8, 1965. This historic day started with an unexpected attack by the Vietnamese. Harris received a Purple Heart for his combat service, having received shrapnel wound in his leg that day. Mr. Harris’s story was captured in the song "8th of November" and music video by Country Music Duo, Big & Rich. The entire story and all details can be found on www.8thNovember.com .

In recognition of Operation Hump that took place in Vietnam on November 8, 1965, there will be an unveiling of an original painting by world renowned artist, Craig Bone. Mr. Bone is regarded as one of the top Naturalists in the world. His painting Earth, Wind and Fire is the only Vietnam era painting currently on display in the Pentagon. His new original painting “8th of November” was inspired by the story of Mr. Niles Harris, a U.S. Army Veteran and survivor of the Operation Hump.

The concert itself will be the finale to a day of activities beginning with the North Carolina Veteran’s Day Parade at 9:00am where Niles Harris will be the Grand Marshall. Everyone is invited to Ray Price Harley Davidson for a BBQ cook-off from 11:30-1:30p where Craig Bone’s famous Earth, Wind and Fire prints will be available for purchase and autograph; then on to the concert which opens at 3:30 with displays and booths. The concert begins at 5:00pm with the 82nd Airborne All-American Chorus.

A successful, middle-aged businessman goes to his 25th high school reunion without his wife, and finds his teenage band still together and playing. He joins them for a set and is pushed to reunite for a few gigs.

He and his daughter have a good relationship, and she is aware of some tension between her parents.

His real estate development business is going through a rough period, and when a gig at a river bar is successful, George considers a return to music.

When the band is booked as a last minute replacement to open for a reunion tour stop, the promoter wants them to join the tour. The crowd loves them and one woman is particularly friendly.

Conflicts with one band guy's drug issues, and continual problems in his business present roadblocks. His wife's accusations add further problems.

"BAIT SHOP" WORLD PREMIERE
SATURDAY, AUGUST 9 9/8C ON USA NETWORK

Thursday Aug 7, 2008
Catch USA Network's World Premiere of "Bait Shop" -- a comedy that takes you deep into the cutthroat world of professional bass fishing where the act of hooking the big-mouthed fish is as much religion as it is sport.
In the film, Bill Dugan (Bill Engvall) is a small-town bait shop owner who has to make a balloon mortgage payment of $15,000 or lose his shop to the bank. Unable to pay from the shop's proceeds alone, Bill must compete in a high-profile fishing tournament against famed angler, Hot Rod Johnson (Billy Ray Cyrus).

Bill faces an uphill battle; especially once the self-promoting Hot Rod captures the loyalty of not only the town locals, but Bill's own son, Scott. To save his shop, his family and his dignity, Bill employs some old-time angling techniques and plenty of heart to battle Hot Rod for the $50,000 contest prize.

BILLY RAY VISITS WOUNDED WARRIORS
Monday Jul 28, 2008
July 10, 2008
Army News Service|by Molly Hayden

SCHOFIELD BARRACKS, Hawaii - More than 100 wounded warriors and their family members gathered in anticipation for a meet and greet with Grammy Award-nominated American country star Billy Ray Cyrus at the Warrior Assistance Center here, on the Fourth of July.
As the performer entered the building, one could not decide who was more excited - the star or the fans - each thanking the other for their presence.
"Our wounded warriors are very deserving of an opportunity like this," said Kristina Kalili, outreach program coordinator at the Warrior Assistance Center. "The Soldiers are excited and feel honored to have a superstar donate (his) time for a visit."
Making his way to the lounge area, Cyrus stopped to shake hands with numerous people, posed for pictures and complimented Soldiers for their service to our country. Complete with sunglasses, cowboy boots, a T-shirt with the word "Tennessee" across his chest, and an accent to match, Cyrus exuded southern hospitality as he engaged each person in conversation.
"I get a chance to say thanks to the troops, their families ... just looking them in the eyes and reaching out and shaking their hands," said Cyrus in an interview after the meet and greet. "The sacrifice they make for this great country is overwhelming."
For the next hour, Cyrus signed autographs, chatted with Soldiers, and told young children to follow their dreams.
"I sign a lot of my autographs 'Follow your dreams,'" said Cyrus. "I think now's a great time for the kids and families to think about what they want to do with their lives ... knowing that anything is possible.
"I'm a huge supporter of people reaching out and going beyond their comfort zone and reaching their dreams," he continued.
During the meet and greet, Cyrus listened attentively as Soldiers told stories of injuries they sustained in battle. Cyrus asked questions about their service and recuperation.
"(Cyrus) came a long way, and I think it's great he is taking out time to give the Soldiers individual attention," said Spc. Joshua Floyd, Warrior Transition Battalion. "This is an outlet and brief moment when (the Soldiers) are not worrying about healing or transition. It's about the community effort, and he's a part of it."
Cyrus is most known for his hit single "Achy Breaky Heart" that catapulted him into worldwide fame. He also holds the record by a debut artist for his album "Some Gave All," which was number one on Billboard's Hot 100 Album chart for 17 weeks in 1992.
Cyrus explained he wrote the "Some Gave All" after meeting a Vietnam veteran in 1989. He repeated the lyrics, emphasizing the line "some stood through for the red, white and blue, and some had to fall." He said the song brings a great deal of positive attention to and has received appreciation from Soldiers.
"I always prayed that God would give me the wisdom and the ability to do what I was supposed to do on this earth, to fulfill my purpose," said Cyrus. "I think that singing that song and writing that song is part of my manifest destiny."
Adding actor to his resume, Cyrus currently stars as Robby Stewart, father and manager to his teenage daughter, played by real-life daughter and teen icon, Miley, in the Emmy-nominated Disney Channel series, "Hannah Montana."
He has also appeared in numerous movies and other television shows, including the lead role on the 2001 comedy and drama program "Doc."
Jumping on the reality television show craze, Cyrus recently appeared on "Dancing with the Stars," making it to the final five. He was eventually eliminated in week eight.
The busy star is also a host on the Country Music Television show "Nashville Star," and continues to make numerous appearances to showcase his musical talents around the country.
No stranger to travel and being away from his family and farm near Nashville, Tenn., Cyrus offered advice to families of deployed Soldiers: "Stay busy ... and stay focused on being positive," he said about separations.
"I believe the support of the Army and military in general begins in the home," he added. "It's a tight-knit foundation that needs to become stronger day-by-day."
As the meet and greet neared an end, Lt. Col. Harold Xenitelis, commander, Warrior Transition Battalion, presented Cyrus with a certificate of appreciation for visiting the wounded warriors. Cyrus graciously accepted with a smile, a handshake, and numerous words of thanks.
"Wow," said Cyrus. "I wasn't expecting this ... and it sure is an honor."

BILLY RAY CYRUS & SLYDOG ROCK LP FIELD AT CMA MUSIC FESTIVAL
Sunday Jun 8, 2008
Billy Ray Cyrus and Slydog arrived on the stage Sunday night, June 8th at LP Field to a standing ovation and that ovation continued throughout their entire performance!

What a night! The night was hot, hot, hot and Billy Ray and Slydog were HOT, HOT, HOT!

The performance began with Billy Ray's #1 hit, "It Could've Have Been Me" and was followed by a time honored fan favorite, "Words By Heart". Next, Billy Ray performed one of radio's most requested songs of the year: "Ready, Set, Don't Go". This was his song written about Miley's leaving for California to star in Hannah Montana! They followed with Cheryl Crowe's, "Real Gone". (The video for "Real Gone" is one of CMT's most popular videos right now.) They ended the performance with what? ACHY BREAKY HEART, of course! The festival crowd consisting of young and old, male and female gave a resounding approval to the boys!

In usual Billy Ray fashion, he was the only performer who stayed on stage to throw towels to the crowd and do autographs. After leaving the stage, Billy Ray went down to the fence for more autographs!

So, who is surprised that after 16 years of Fan Fair (CMA Music Festival) performances that Billy Ray is still a fan favorite?
No one who has ever seen him live and in concert!

ARTISTS ADDED TO LINEUP FOR 2008 CMA MUSIC FESTIVAL NIGHTLY CONCERTS ON THE VAULT CONCERT STAGES AT LP FIELD

NASHVILLE – The excitement builds for 2008 CMA Music Festival as Trace Adkins, Bucky Covington, Billy Ray Cyrus, Sara Evans, Little Big Town, Montgomery Gentry, Craig Morgan, James Otto, Kenny Rogers and Randy Travis are added to the performance lineup for the Nightly Concerts on the VAULT(tm) Concert Stages at LP Field. The four-day festival takes place Thursday through Sunday, June 5-8, in Downtown Nashville.

“We are thrilled to host these great performers at CMA Music Festival this year,” said Tammy Genovese, CMA Chief Executive Officer. “This group is a great mix of today’s hottest Country radio artists and legends. We know our attendees are going to enjoy them all.”

In addition to achieving Country Music success, many of these artists have also become television favorites. Adkins was the runner-up on the Donald Trump-fronted “Celebrity Apprentice” this year. Cyrus currently stars in Disney Channel’s “Hannah Montana” series (and upcoming movie) with his daughter Miley Cyrus, and will host “Nashville Star” this summer. In 2006, Covington was a finalist on “American Idol” while Evans participated in “Dancing with the Stars.” The legendary Rogers headlined all five “The Gambler” television movies in the ‘80s and ‘90s. Both he and Travis have appeared on the television and silver screens in a variety of acting roles.

Travis will be making his first performance at CMA Music Festival in 10 years. He last performed at the event in 1998, when it was called by its original name, Fan Fair, and was held at the Tennessee State Fairgrounds

Other artists already confirmed to appear at LP Field include Rodney Atkins, Faith Hill, Alan Jackson, Jewel, Lady Antebellum, Miranda Lambert, Kellie Pickler, Sugarland, Taylor Swift, Josh Turner, Carrie Underwood and Dwight Yoakam. Surprise guests have also become a hallmark of the Festival, enriching an already star-packed lineup.
